Musician Eddy Kenzo has revealed that he went back to school to complete his education, a move that has surprised many fans. The singer, who has enjoyed a long and successful career, has often been mocked for dropping out of school and for his spoken English.

Speaking in an interview with Isaac Kawalya Kaiyz, Kenzo said, “I did mature entry education and I passed very well. I am also now doing university.”

Kenzo emphasized that his decision to go back to school is not politically motivated. Despite being seen in political circles, especially around the ruling NRM, he said, “I am not a politician and I do not want to engage in active politics. My going back to school is for personal growth.”

The singer explained that his main motivation is his children. “I want to show my kids the right way and attach value to education. They won’t be managing my businesses for me forever,” he said.

Kenzo also described his education as a long-term project. “This is something I am doing for myself, especially in my 40s and 50s, because I won’t be jumping on stage forever,” he added.

On his political stance, Kenzo said he supports the NRM and President Museveni, not for personal gain but because of what he has seen abroad. “I have traveled and seen how other countries are run. When I focus back on Uganda, I believe Museveni has led the country well and does not need any change,” he explained.

It’s worth noting that Kenzo rose to fame alongside Mikie Wine, the younger brother of NUP president Bobi Wine. However, a few years ago, Kenzo distanced himself from NUP and has since become the main entertainer at Museveni’s campaign rallies.
