  • Ugandan performer Mzee Kawato explains how a UGX 500,000 gift from Eddy Kenzo was reduced to UGX 320,000 due to bureaucratic processes.
  • Mzee suspects UGX 180,000 went missing somewhere along the chain of offices, causing frustration.

Ugandan performer Mzee Kawato, known for his performances along side his son, Dexta Rapper—recently shared a frustrating experience involving fellow musician Eddy Kenzo.

In an interview, Mzee revealed that Kenzo had generously offered him UGX 500,000 as a token of appreciation. But when the money finally reached him, it had mysteriously dwindled to UGX 320,000.

“The process of actually receiving the gift was a struggle,” Mzee explained. “You have to go through about ten offices, sign papers, and register yourself.”

He suspects that the missing UGX 180,000 disappeared somewhere along the bureaucratic chain, leaving him both puzzled and frustrated.

“For me, the gesture from Kenzo was heartfelt, but the system handling it turned what should have been a moment of gratitude into disappointment,” he said.

Despite the setback, Mzee’s respect for Kenzo remains, but the ordeal has left him calling for more transparency in how such gestures are processed.
