Singer Daxx Kartel has revealed that he played a major role in inspiring fellow musician Geosteady to pursue a career in music, a decision that was initially met with criticism from many people around them.

Speaking during an appearance on NBS After Five, Daxx Kartel shared details about their early days, revealing that he was actually a brilliant student during his school years. According to him, he excelled particularly in science subjects and was among the top students when he joined St. Henry’s College Gangu.
Kartel explained that before he arrived at the school, Geosteady was widely known as the brightest student there, especially in mathematics.
“Before I joined St. Henry’s in Gangu, Geosteady was the brightest student there. When I arrived, I also excelled in sciences and mathematics, and we quickly became close,” Daxx Kartel revealed.

According to the Baala singer, Geosteady later pursued teaching as a profession and even taught Physics at a school located along Ggaba Road. Kartel himself also had an opportunity to become a teacher but turned it down because he felt it wasn’t the path he wanted to follow.
“I even got the chance to teach, but I couldn’t see myself in a classroom. When I transitioned into music, I encouraged Geosteady to join me,” he said.
The decision, however, did not sit well with many of Geosteady’s family members and friends at the time. Daxx Kartel revealed that some people blamed him for introducing Geosteady to what they considered an uncertain and unserious career.
Despite the criticism they faced then, Kartel says many of those same people are now proud of Geosteady’s success in the music industry.
He jokingly added that he is still waiting for Geosteady to publicly give him credit for inspiring his journey into music.
Kartel also reflected on his school life, noting that despite his intelligence and strong academic performance, his behavior and appearance often gave people the opposite impression.
