• Manuela P. Mulondo says marriage is meant to make people holy, not happy.
  • She cited biblical teachings suggesting some people can live comfortably without marriage.
  • The author warned that marriage comes with challenges and should be approached seriously.

Media personality and author Manuela P. Mulondo has shared her thoughts on marriage, saying that it was never meant to be a source of happiness but rather a journey that helps people grow spiritually.

Speaking during a one-on-one conversation with fellow media personality Flavia Namulindwa, Manuela explained that many people misunderstand the true purpose of marriage.

Drawing from the Bible, she referenced a passage in 1 Corinthians 7:8 where Paul the Apostle advises that those who are able to remain single should consider doing so.

According to Manuela, the scripture suggests that while some people can live comfortably without marriage, others who struggle to control their desires may choose to marry.

“Marriage wasn’t created to make us happy, it was created to make us holy, and the process of sanctification is not easy,” she said.

The mother of two added that anyone who feels capable of staying single should seriously think about that option. She pointed to Catholic priests as an example, noting that their vow of celibacy reflects the same biblical teaching.

“That’s why Catholic priests don’t get married because they live in line with this particular scripture,” she explained.

Manuela also cautioned people not to ignore the challenges that come with marriage. According to her, many married couples openly admit that the journey can be difficult.

“When people say there’s a lot of fire in marriage, you should believe them. They can’t tell you there’s trouble there and then you choose to join it and later regret. You should just stay single,” she said.

She concluded by emphasizing that anyone who decides to get married should understand the weight of the commitment.

“When you go there knowing it’s trouble, you’re not going to play about it. Marriage is what God uses for family, and the devil will always fight it,” she added.
