- Ismail Lubega Kaka is the officially declared and gazetted winner of Kakuuto County.

- The NUP candidate is seeking a court declaration overturning the EC result.
Singer-turned-politician Geoffrey Lutaaya has formally gone to court to challenge the Kakuuto County parliamentary election results after the Electoral Commission officially gazetted NRM’s Ismail Lubega Kaka as the winner. Election results show Lubega Kaka defeated the incumbent with 11,344 votes against Lutaaya’s 10,229.

Lutaaya, who contested on the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket, insists the final declaration did not reflect the will of the voters.
Speaking while flanked by Lutaaya, the outgoing MP’s lawyer said the petition is based on two major grounds, the first being the exclusion of results from three polling stations in one of the candidate’s strongest support bases.
“At three polling stations in one sub-county where Hon. Lutaaya has overwhelming support, the Electoral Commission decided not to consider the votes from those polling stations.”

According to the legal team, the three stations account for 909 registered voters, yet the winning margin stands at only 686 votes officially, a figure they argue could have been overturned had the results been included.
The second ground is what the lawyers describe as widespread falsification of declaration forms and disregard of electoral laws.
“We have video recordings, dual declaration forms and overwhelming evidence showing the electoral laws were abandoned to secure victory.”
Lutaaya now wants court to nullify the gazetted result and declare that the people of Kakuuto had actually chosen him as their Member of Parliament.
