President Yoweri Museveni has revealed how he hurt his back while exercising.

The President made the revelation while addressing a delegation in Kenya, where he thanked the organisers for allowing him to speak while seated. According to Museveni, the injury occurred during his routine push-ups.

“I’m glad you have allowed me to speak when I’m seated here,” he said. “Because in doing my push-ups I strained my back and I really want to talk to you comfortably.”

He also expressed appreciation to William Ruto for organising the conference and bringing together leaders for discussions he described as important.

It should be noted that Museveni has previously mesmerized Ugandans with his workout routine, often performing push-ups during public appearances. The displays of physical fitness have frequently gone viral, drawing mixed reactions but reinforcing his image of discipline and endurance despite his age.

Meanwhile, in a related engagement, the President reflected on his long journey in public service, noting that he has been involved in national and regional affairs since the 1960s.

Museveni also made reference to Ugandan minister Kahinda Otafiire, using his name to illustrate how Bantu naming traditions often carry deeper meanings. He explained that such names can reflect life philosophies, including perseverance and longevity.

“By not dying, and having been involved in public affairs for the last 65 years, I’m now beginning to see some waking up,” he said.

Uganda and Kenya have in the past couple of months moved to strengthen their relationship with the launch of the standard gauge railway being the most recent.
