Singer Kapeke has distanced himself from the Uganda National Musicians Federation, revealing in a recent interview on NRG Radio Uganda that he is neither a member nor involved in pushing for the proposed copyright bill.

“I tried to be included but some people within the federation undermined me,” he confessed, explaining that at the time, he was still new in the music industry and was perceived as incapable of contributing meaningfully.
Kapeke also made it clear that he prefers to stay away from discussions surrounding the federation, citing previous backlash.
He shared that the last time he spoke about the matter publicly, he received messages from individuals within the federation—something that discouraged him from revisiting the topic.
