Masaka City Woman MP Justine Nameere Nsubuga has spoken candidly about her recent arrest, saying the military made a wise decision by taking her instead of her husband, whom she affectionately calls “Papito.”

Speaking humorously after her release, Nameere said her husband means the world to her and that she would have fiercely fought for his freedom had he been the one detained.

“They were lucky and wise to arrest me instead of Papito. If they had taken him, I would have become a thorn in their shoe fighting for his release.”

Nameere added that her husband was deeply affected by her detention, joking that he “cried like a baby” because of the strong bond they share.

“He is my baby and our love is deep. My man is off limits and untouchable.”

The legislator was recently arrested by military operatives following growing political tensions surrounding the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) and disagreements linked to former Speaker Anita Annet Among.

Nameere also dismissed claims that she is a political spy working for Among, describing the allegations as propaganda aimed at damaging her reputation.

She insisted that assertions linking her to secret political operations for the former Speaker are false.

Her arrest followed weeks of public exchanges with PLU Secretary General Daudi Kabanda, with the disagreement largely revolving around support for Among during the ongoing political realignments.

While Nameere had previously defended Among publicly, recent developments suggest she is now taking a more independent political position.
