  • The singer says the song was born from his days walking to studio while admiring passing cars.

Musician A Pass has opened up about the inspiration behind his 2015 hit song Tuli Kubigere, one of the standout tracks on his debut Nva Kampala album and a fan favorite that dominated airwaves at the time.

The revelation came after a fan on social media asked the singer to explain the meaning and story behind the song that many still regard as one of his all-time biggest bangers.

According to A Pass, the track was inspired by his personal struggles and ambitions during his early days in music when he regularly walked to the studio.

He explained that as he made those journeys on foot, he would watch cars pass by and quietly dream of owning one himself someday.

“As I walked to studio I would always see cars pass me by and I would wish to have one, one day and also be able to drive and go around town like others. #TuliKubigere” A Pass shared.

The song carried that very message of hope and determination. In the track, A Pass reflected on the contrast between those who had already made it and those still striving, loosely translating the message as, “We are on foot and they are in cars.” He further expressed optimism about better days ahead, with another loose translation reading, “We are waiting for our money to increase and one day we shall also be cruising.”

More than a decade later, A Pass says the dream behind Tuli Kubigere has become reality.

The singer, now among Uganda’s most successful and respected musicians, owns the same kind of wheels he once admired from a distance — turning what began as a roadside dream into a living testimony of perseverance and patience.
