Legendary singer Juliana Kanyomozi has opened up about the long-standing accusations from some fans who claim she betrayed fellow musician-turned-politician Bobi Wine by refusing to publicly endorse him politically.

Speaking during a recent interview, the “Nabikoowa” singer explained that she only chose to respond after years of remaining silent while facing criticism and name-calling from sections of the public.

“I didn’t come out because I was suddenly upset. They had been saying the same things for a long time. I’m known to ignore people, keep quiet and move on with life, but I think enough is enough,” Juliana said.

It should be noted that Juliana and Bobi Wine were once among Uganda’s closest musical allies. The two collaborated on timeless hits such as Mama Wa Baana and Mama Mbire, songs that remain fan favorites years later.

However, when Bobi Wine ventured into active politics, some supporters expected Juliana to publicly back his political ambitions. Her decision not to do so led to accusations that she had abandoned or betrayed her longtime friend.

Addressing the criticism, Juliana maintained that friendship does not mean people must follow the same path in life.

“They were attacking someone who simply grew up with another person. We were friends, we worked together, and life sent us in different paths. Everyone has a right to live their life,” she explained.

The award-winning singer added that she still considers Bobi Wine a friend and respects the choices he has made, even though they may not always share the same views or approach to life.

Juliana said her response was intended to set the record straight once and for all and help people understand her position regarding the allegations.
