  • Tracy Melon says she welcomes comparisons with established female artists because she respects their talent.
  • She wants to be known for making music that touches people’s hearts and leaves a lasting emotional impact.
  • The singer says regional expansion is part of her long-term plan, with East African collaborations expected in the future.

Fast-rising Ugandan singer Tracy Melon has said she is not bothered by comparisons with other female artists, insisting she sees them as a sign of respect rather than criticism.

While appearing on NRG Radio with Mr Henrie, the Ogenda Kukilaba singer reflected on the comparisons that have followed her since she burst onto the music scene about a year and a half ago.

She has often been likened to artists such as Ava Peace and Winnie Wa Mummy because of her style and emotional music.

“I have no problem being compared as long as you’re comparing me with good people,” Tracy said.

“They’ve been on the scene for years. They’ve worked so hard to get where they are. They are very talented artists, so I don’t take comparison negatively.”

She explained that she does not overthink public opinions and instead prefers to remain focused on her own journey.

Asked what sets her apart, Tracy said her biggest goal is to create music that connects deeply with listeners.

“I just want to be the person you listen to and you just feel something,” she said.

The singer revealed that some fans have told her they found love or healed emotionally through her songs, feedback she describes as the most rewarding part of being an artist.

“I’ve had people say, ‘I got my first girlfriend with your song.’ I love to hear that because I’m actually making an impact.”

“I just want to touch that place in your heart where you feel can’t be touched.”

On her future ambitions, Tracy confirmed that she and her management are looking beyond Uganda.

She said regional expansion is part of the plan, although collaborations with artists from neighboring countries are still in the pipeline.

When asked about a possible collaboration with producer Producer Element Eleéeh, whom she had previously expressed interest in working with, Tracy said she believes the right time will eventually come.

“I believe when the time is right, we’ll work.”

It should be recalled that Tracy Melon rose to prominence about a year and a half ago with Ogenda Kukilaba and has since established herself as one of Uganda’s standout young vocalists, earning praise for her memorable ballads and emotionally driven music.
