Veteran musician Mesach Semakula has broken his silence on why he has chosen not to comment on the ongoing paternity controversy involving the late Paul Kafeero.

For weeks, the singer has remained noticeably quiet as debate over Kafeero’s children and recent DNA test results dominated social media and entertainment discussions. His silence prompted many fans to question why someone who was once close to the late legend had not shared his views.

Speaking during a recent interview, Semakula explained that his silence is intentional.

He acknowledged that he and Kafeero shared a close friendship and that he stood by the legendary singer during his final days, including visiting him at Mulago Hospital before his passing. However, he stressed that their friendship never extended to knowing every detail of Kafeero’s private family life.

Semakula recalled that Kafeero admired his musical talent from a young age, and despite the significant age difference between them, they built a strong friendship based on music and mutual respect.

The “Sigwe Onsimila” singer also revealed that throughout the years he knew Kafeero, he never witnessed the behavior that some people now claim the late musician exhibited, including allegations that he had relationships with many women.

According to Semakula, Kafeero lived a disciplined and guided lifestyle in the time they spent together.

He further criticized the growing tendency for people to comment on sensitive issues without having firsthand knowledge. Semakula argued that those who were genuinely close to Kafeero’s personal and family life are better placed to speak on such matters.
