Musician Chozen Blood has candidly spoken about his long-speculated relationship with fellow singer Winnie Nwagi, confirming that he was once romantically attracted to her but ultimately chose to protect their friendship instead.

The pair became close after releasing their hit collaboration Yitayo, sparking widespread speculation that they were dating. Although the two never publicly confirmed or denied the rumors, fans often viewed them as more than just musical partners.

Speaking in a recent interview, Chozen Blood admitted that his feelings for Nwagi were genuine but said he eventually realized their bond was too valuable to risk.

“I was attracted to Winnie, but I realized there was something much deeper between us. If I pursued those feelings, I feared it would destroy the friendship we had built.”

The “Sharp Shooter” singer described Nwagi as one of the few people who stood by him during one of the darkest periods of his life. He recalled losing his mother during the COVID-19 lockdown at around the same time he had become a father.

According to Chozen Blood, Nwagi, who was already raising a child herself, constantly encouraged him, comforted him and reminded him to stay focused on providing for his family.

He also credited the “Musimu Gwa Gwanga” singer for inspiring him to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

Chozen Blood explained that after years of performing while drinking alcohol and neglecting his health, he was motivated by Nwagi’s dedication to fitness and eventually began working out himself.

“She inspired me to start going to the gym. Seeing how disciplined and strong she was pushed me to take better care of myself.”

Beyond discussing his personal life, Chozen Blood also weighed in on the operations of the Uganda Performing Right Society (UPRS). While acknowledging the importance of the organization in protecting musicians’ rights, he said artists deserve greater transparency and accountability.

The singer revealed that he once received just UGX 60,000 in royalties from UPRS but decided to return the money, arguing that the amount did not reflect the value of his extensive music catalog.

Chozen Blood said he has more than 100 songs and music videos, insisting that musicians deserve fair compensation for their work and that UPRS should improve how it collects and distributes royalties.
