Media personality Kiiza Kimbugwe, popularly known as Little Joe, has opened up about his spiritual journey, revealing how his upbringing across different faiths shaped his beliefs.

Speaking on The Deep Talk with Roger Otis on Galaxy TV, Little Joe said he was raised in both the Anglican and Islamic faiths. He explained that his mother regularly took him from their home in Lubya to a Protestant church, while his father, a Muslim, exposed him to Islamic teachings and life around mosques.

“I grew up Anglican because my mother always took us to church, but I also practiced Islam because my father was Muslim. That’s why I can recite teachings from almost every religion I grew up around.”

He added that after leaving his mother’s home, he lived with a neighbour, Pastor Katumba, where he was further exposed to Christianity alongside the pastor’s son, Martin, who has since become a pastor.

However, Little Joe said his faith in organized religion began to fade after witnessing what he described as hypocrisy among some believers.

“I kept asking myself why people who claim to be religious can be so evil and unforgiving. Someone prays, then goes ahead and curses an entire family because of one person’s mistake, even innocent children.”

He concluded that those experiences changed his outlook on religion, saying he no longer identifies with any organized faith.

“I am a Muganda, and today I walk according to Buganda cultural beliefs.”
