American Hollywood star and musician Tyrese Gibson has paid tribute to the late Tooro Kingdom monarch, Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, who died on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the age of 34.

The Tooro Kingdom confirmed that King Oyo passed away at approximately 10:00 p.m. while receiving medical care in the United States. He ascended the throne in 1995 at just three years old, becoming the world’s youngest reigning monarch.

Gibson, who has been in Africa in recent days, including Uganda, appears to have developed a strong connection with the country during his visit. His trip included engagements around tourism, coffee and investment, as well as meetings with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
