Speaking about producers he believes are doing an exceptional job, Washington praised Michael Fingers, Steve Jeans and Andrew Ahuura for their impressive work and contribution to the country’s music scene.

He also singled out Benon Mugumbya of Swangz Avenue, Producer Rinex and Banger Boy, who also works with Swangz Avenue, as some of the producers currently doing a great job.

Washington further praised Axon, who works closely with singer Joshua Baraka, but encouraged him to collaborate with more artists and share his sound across the industry.

“Step out and work with other artists too. Bless them with your sound so that our whole industry can sound beautiful and vibrant,” Washington advised.

He cautioned Axon against limiting his sound to one artist, encouraging producers to make their talent available to a wider pool of musicians.

Reflecting on his own career, Washington said he always made an effort to work with different artists rather than restricting his production to a select few.

“I covered everyone including Nairobi, Rwanda and the rest of East Africa,” he shared.

He cited artists such as Cindy Sanyu, Jackie Chandiru and Juliana Kanyomozi, Bebe Cool, Bobi Wine and Goodlyf among the musicians he worked with, emphasizing the importance of producers embracing and supporting the talent around them.

According to Washington, producers have an important role to play in shaping the sound of the industry, and working with a diverse range of artists can help make Uganda’s music scene more vibrant and competitive.
