TAKEAWAYS
- Personal expression remains welcome: BK Arena says guests are free to express their personal style, provided their clothing is appropriate for the public venue.
- Intimate areas must be covered: See-through or transparent clothing is only permitted where it still provides adequate coverage.
- Obscene or discriminatory clothing is banned: Outfits displaying obscene, hateful, discriminatory or threatening words, images or symbols will not be allowed.
BK Arena has introduced new dress code guidelines for guests attending events at the Kigali-based entertainment venue, days after reports that several women were denied entry to Diamond Platnumz’s concert over outfits considered inappropriate.

The new guidelines come amid a heated public debate in Rwanda over dressing and public decency following the Diamond Platnumz Experience, which was held at the BK Arena parking area on August 29, 2026.
According to reports, some female concertgoers were stopped from entering the event because security personnel considered their dresses, skirts or shorts too revealing. The incidents quickly went viral on social media, sparking conversations about personal freedom, cultural expectations and what should be considered appropriate dressing at entertainment events. Against this backdrop, BK Arena has now published specific guidelines outlining what guests can wear when attending events at the venue.

Under the new guidelines:
- Intimate areas must remain adequately covered.
- Transparent or see-through garments must provide adequate coverage of intimate areas.
- Clothing displaying obscene, hateful, discriminatory or threatening words, images or symbols is not permitted.
