Manjiya County Member of Parliament and acting president of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Hon. John Baptist Nambeshe, has surprised many Ugandans after revealing that he has more than 28 children and still hopes to have more.

Nambeshe made the revelation while appearing on the Diaspora Connect podcast hosted by Flavia Namorindwa, where he spoke about his family and the influence of his father on his own approach to family life.

The legislator said he inherited the trait of having a large family from his father, who, according to Nambeshe, lived to the age of 96 and had numerous wives and children.

Nambeshe also shared an unusual detail about his relationship with his father’s youngest wife, saying he is only one year older than her.

He recalled that before his father died, he left instructions in his will warning his children against marrying his youngest wife.

“My father said nobody should ever marry his youngest wife. If anyone did, he would deal with them.”

Nambeshe jokingly suggested that his father may have noticed one of his sons becoming interested in the woman, prompting him to make the warning part of his will.

The MP also revealed that his large family includes six sets of twins, another trait he said he inherited from his father, who also had several sets of twins.

“I still want more children, and I hope to get them.”

His revelation has sparked curiosity among Ugandans, with many wondering how he manages to provide for and maintain such a large family.

Nambeshe represents Manjiya County in Bududa District in Parliament and was appointed acting president of the NUP in July 2026.
