The Uganda Esports Federation has appointed Kyarisiima Israel as its new Chief Executive Officer, bringing a young leader with experience in youth mobilisation and organisational work into Uganda’s growing esports sector.

Kyarisiima officially took up the position on September 14, 2026, according to communication from the Federation.

He assumes the role at a time when esports is growing beyond recreational gaming into a global industry that combines competitive gaming, technology, entertainment, broadcasting, content creation and business.

More than gaming

For Uganda, the growth of esports presents opportunities to connect the country’s youthful population to a global industry while creating platforms for local players, teams, creators and other professionals.

The Federation’s role extends beyond organising competitions, with the sector requiring structures that can support talent development, professional teams, events and the wider gaming ecosystem.

A new chapter for Uganda esports

Kyarisiima’s appointment comes as youth leadership increasingly intersects with Uganda’s growing digital economy.

With much of the esports community made up of young, digitally connected people, his background in engaging and mobilising young people could be relevant as the Federation works to strengthen the country’s esports structures.

As esports continues to expand across Africa, Uganda will be looking to develop local talent and create stronger opportunities for players and other industry professionals.

Kyarisiima now begins his tenure with the responsibility of helping guide the Federation and contribute to the continued development of Uganda’s esports industry.
