Speaking to Roger Otis on Deep Talk, Nimrod recalled how the changes affected him emotionally, particularly because he believed his mid-morning show, which started at 10 a.m., had one of the biggest listenerships across the country.

At the time, the evening show featured Prim, Asimwe and Little Joe. Nimrod said he felt disappointed with the station’s then programme manager, Maryat, whom he believed had developed a personal dislike for him.

“Fifty per cent of my family and friends told me to leave Galaxy FM,” Nimrod revealed, explaining that those close to him believed the station was deliberately trying to break him and that the decision demonstrated disrespect.

The situation became so difficult that Nimrod said he eventually approached Galaxy FM CEO Innocent Nahabwe to seek an explanation for the changes. He also admitted that the experience took a significant emotional toll on him, revealing that he reached a point where he cried at home.

“I even sat down with Innocent Nahabwe and asked him what we had done to him,” Nimrod recalled.

Despite the disappointment, Nimrod said radio remained an important source of stability as he navigated the difficult period. Although he considered resigning, he was uncertain about what he would do next if he left the station.

Things took an interesting turn when he received a call from Next Media Services, although he said he did not know how the organisation had learned about his situation.

After meeting with the team, Nimrod was reportedly offered two opportunities: one on radio and another on television. He said the financial package offered by NBS was considerably higher than what he was earning at Galaxy FM.

However, despite the attractive offer and the emotional challenges he had experienced, Nimrod ultimately chose to remain at Galaxy FM, turning down the opportunity to join Next Media Services.
