Singer Ameria Nambala has opened up about lending fellow celebrity Shakib Cham an undisclosed amount of money, revealing that he later allegedly started playing games when it came to paying her back.

Ameria shared that Shakib called her one Sunday and asked to meet. When they eventually met, he explained that he was going through a difficult financial situation and needed some money, promising to pay it back. He also offered to leave his car with her as collateral.

“I understood where he was coming from and I was sure that he would pay me. He is a celebrity and his wife is also popular and respectable,” she said.

According to Ameria, she had not even considered taking Shakib’s car as collateral because she trusted that he would honor his promise and repay the money.

However, a few weeks later, Shakib called her and said he had received some little money and needed his car back because he used it to run errands and manage his business.

“I weighed both options. What did I want? Money or the car?” she questioned.

Ameria said she ultimately chose to give Shakib his car back, trusting that he would still pay the money he owed her.

She claims that things later took an unexpected turn when Shakib allegedly wanted to have her arrested after she went to his shop and took some of his stock in an attempt to pressure him into paying back the money.

“I should’ve been the one threatening to arrest him because he had not paid my money,” she said.

Reflecting on the experience, Ameria cautioned women to be more careful when lending money to men, especially when dealing with large amounts, and encouraged them to protect themselves by having clear agreements and security in place.
