One of Uganda’s most acclaimed comedians, Anne Kansiime, has come out to provide a crucial piece of advice to content creators in Uganda on how to earn from and protect their work online.

Having built one of the most successful comedy brands in East Africa, with shows that have crossed borders into countries such as Kenya, Zambia, and beyond, Kansiime said patience, ownership, and digital safety are key for anyone serious about content creation.
Speaking from experience, the comedian revealed that one of her highest-earning skits, posted about 11 years ago, has so far made $8,000 from a single video.
“The highest-earning skit I posted about 11 years ago made $8,000. Just one skit. It has stayed online, kept growing, and it is still working for me because I own the platform,” Kansiime said.

She encouraged young creators not to be discouraged by slow returns. Kansiime noted that content can continue paying off years after it is uploaded if it remains protected and properly monetized.
Kansiime also used the moment to warn creators against online fraud, especially suspicious email links that can compromise social media accounts and years of work.
“If anyone sends you an email with a random link, be careful. Let them explain first and let you be the one to ask for the link. Many people lose their pages that way,” she warned.
The celebrated comedian, whose content continues to attract audiences across East Africa and beyond, said she is now reusing some of her old skits by dubbing them in Mandarin, a move aimed at expanding her reach into new markets.
With a Uganda having a high youthful population and most of it now turning to content creation as a means of earning income, Kansiime’s message to is simple, keep working, think long-term, and protect your digital assets as seriously as the content itself.
