  • Bebe Cool says President Museveni currently comes before his family due to the importance of national leadership during elections.
  • MP Muhammad Nsereko sharply criticized the singer’s remarks, calling them unrealistic and insensitive.
  • Despite the backlash, Bebe Cool defended his stance, saying everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and priorities.

Bebe Cool has made a bold and controversial declaration about where his loyalties lie during Uganda’s election season.

Speaking during a TikTok Live session hosted by Barista Timo, which was later joined by Kampala Central MP Hon. Muhammad Nsereko, the outspoken musician said that President Yoweri Museveni currently ranks above his own family in terms of importance.

According to Bebe Cool, the political moment the country is in demands a clear set of priorities.

“For now, as we are in the elections, it’s God, my country, my President, my family,” Bebe Cool said, a statement that instantly raised eyebrows among viewers following the live discussion.

Explaining his reasoning, the Gagamel boss argued that national leadership has a direct impact on personal and family well-being. He insisted that his stance is driven by what he believes is best for the country as a whole. “Right now the President comes first because if I get a stupid President, my family perishes. So the President is very important now,” he added.

However, Hon. Muhammad Nsereko strongly disagreed with the singer’s remarks, dismissing them as reckless. The legislator told Bebe Cool that such a comparison was unrealistic and insensitive, especially when it comes to family matters. “You’re joking stupidly,” Nsereko said, adding that no leader can be equated to the importance of one’s own child or family.

Nsereko further challenged Bebe Cool’s logic by presenting a practical scenario. He argued that no parent, in their heart, would choose to attend a presidential campaign over attending to a sick child, regardless of political loyalty.

In response, Bebe Cool stood his ground, saying his views are personal and guided by his belief system. He emphasized that everyone is entitled to their own priorities. “That’s my choice, and he has his,” Bebe Cool said, reiterating that for him, country comes first.
