Ugandan musician Big Eye StarBoss has publicly appealed to the relevant authorities to expedite the reopening of Nation Media Group’s broadcast stations, saying their continued closure is hurting the country’s music industry and the livelihoods of many people.

In a statement shared on his social media platforms, the singer highlighted the impact the closure of NTV Uganda, Spark TV, Daily Monitor and Dembe FM has had on artists who rely on the media houses to promote their music and connect with audiences across the country.

According to him, the absence of the stations has significantly reduced the visibility and accessibility of Ugandan music, affecting both established musicians and emerging talents looking to grow their careers.

He further urged the authorities to fast-track the necessary processes for the stations to resume broadcasting, noting that their return would not only revive an important promotional platform for the entertainment industry but also restore jobs for employees who have been left out of work.

“Their return to the airwaves will not only restore a vital platform for Uganda’s creative industry but will also enable the dedicated employees who worked there to resume their jobs and provide for their families,” he wrote.

Big Eye added that reopening the media houses would benefit the media industry, musicians, event organizers and the nation at large. He concluded his appeal by thanking the authorities for their attention to the matter
