  • Felista Di Superstar claims the label controlled her content for five years, took over her YouTube channel, and never paid her any earnings.
  • The allegations have reignited discussions about artist rights, royalties, and transparency in Uganda’s digital music industry.

Musician Bruno K has publicly accused Black Market Records of copyrighting and distributing content associated with young internet sensation Rango Tenge Tenge without obtaining the necessary permissions.

In a post shared on his X (formerly twitter), Bruno K questioned how the record label handled revenue generated from Tenge Tenge’s viral sound, alleging that the company distributed the content despite not having a formal agreement with either the young creator or his management team.

“Black Market Records should explain to the world where they put the 1.5 billion Ugandan shillings they made from the Tenge Tenge sound. They didn’t have a contract with Tenge Tenge; they just distributed the kid’s sound without his permission or the managers,” Bruno K claimed.

The allegations have since gained further attention after young artist Felista Di Superstar also spoke out against the record label, claiming she never received financial compensation from content that was allegedly managed by the company.

According to Felista, Black Market Records took control of her content for a period of five years but failed to remit any earnings generated during that time.

“They’ve never given me any single coin, just lies. Even my YouTube channel of over 30,000 subscribers was taken,” Felista Di Superstar alleged.

The accusations have sparked debate within Uganda’s music industry, with artists and fans calling for greater transparency regarding digital music distribution, royalty payments, and content ownership agreements.
