• Lutalo says sharing his number was to stop fraudsters impersonating him
  • Claims former associates are scamming fans using his name
  • Hints at an industry rival spreading damaging rumors

Ugandan singer David Lutalo has broken his silence following criticism over a recent TikTok live session where he publicly shared his phone number. The move sparked speculation online, with some claiming the artist was seeking attention or trying to attract women amid talk of a career slowdown.

Lutalo, once among the most booked and trending artists in Uganda, has recently maintained a quieter musical presence, fueling conversations about his current standing in the industry. However, the singer has dismissed the negative assumptions, offering a different explanation behind his actions.

“I gave out my number because people are being conned in my name. I had to make it clear what my official contact is,” Lutalo explained.

According to the artist, several individuals—some of whom he previously worked with—have been impersonating members of his team and collecting money from unsuspecting fans and event organizers under false booking promises. He revealed that multiple victims have already come forward after being duped.

“Someone even asked for my number during the live for booking purposes. That’s why I shared it. This has nothing to do with what people are saying,” he added.

Lutalo further alleged that a figure within the music industry could be fueling the rumors to damage his reputation, hinting at possible personal or political motives. He promised to expose the individual soon, insisting that he remains a major force in the industry despite the chatter.
