Uganda’s premium drinks scene is about to get even more exciting.

Double Barrel Beverages has announced that it will officially introduce Bumbu Rum and The Deacon Scotch Whisky to the Ugandan market on 15th March 2026, in partnership with global brand owner Sovereign Brands. The move signals a new chapter in a collaboration that has already begun shaping the country’s high-end spirits landscape.

The partnership between Double Barrel Beverages and Sovereign Brands brings together international expertise and local distribution strength. Ugandan consumers have already had a taste of this synergy through the successful introduction of Luc Belaire. Now, with Bumbu and The Deacon joining the lineup, the portfolio is expanding in both depth and character.

Each brand carries a distinct personality, but they share a common thread — bold identity, eye-catching design, and a focus on craftsmanship and lifestyle-driven luxury.

Bumbu Rum, crafted in the Caribbean and inspired by 16th and 17th century recipes, is celebrated globally for its smooth, rich taste and unmistakable bottle design. Its refined yet approachable character positions it as a strong contender in Uganda’s growing premium rum category.

On the whisky front, The Deacon offers a modern twist on tradition. The masterfully blended Scotch balances gentle peat smoke with warming spice and layered depth. Its striking presentation mirrors its bold, unconventional spirit — appealing to a new generation of whisky enthusiasts looking for something distinctive.

The official launch event on 15th March is expected to draw trade partners, media personalities, influencers, and key industry players for an immersive brand experience. Adding a culinary dimension to the evening, Izumi Restaurant & Lounge will serve as the official food partner. Guests can expect a curated dining experience designed to complement the complexity and character of both spirits, reinforcing the focus on premium lifestyle experiences.

Speaking ahead of the launch, Brand Manager Joan Lubega expressed confidence in the expansion.

“Following the strong reception of Luc Belaire in Uganda, we are proud to further grow our partnership with Sovereign Brands through the introduction of Bumbu and The Deacon. This launch reflects our shared commitment to bringing globally celebrated premium brands to the Ugandan market while continuing to elevate the consumer experience. Partnering with Izumi Restaurant for this launch further reinforces our dedication to delivering premium, curated lifestyle moments,” she said.

With this latest rollout, Double Barrel Beverages and Sovereign Brands are not just adding new bottles to shelves — they are strengthening their long-term investment in Uganda’s fast-evolving premium consumer market, focused on sustainable growth, strategic partnerships, and world-class experiences.
