• Eddy Kenzo defended President Museveni, saying many beneficiaries later criticize the government.
  • He singled out Bobi Wine, citing his wealth and property in Busabala and Magere.
  • The remarks add fuel to ongoing political tensions between the government and opposition.

Musician and Federation of Uganda Musicians president Eddy Kenzo has come out strongly in defense of President Yoweri Museveni, arguing that many people who have benefited from government support often end up criticizing the very system that helped them succeed.

Speaking candidly, Kenzo said it is not unusual to see individuals who have built wealth and secured opportunities during Museveni’s leadership later turn around and condemn the government. In his view, some of the loudest critics are people who have actually prospered over the years.

He pointed to opposition leader Bobi Wine, born Robert Kyagulanyi, as an example. Kenzo claimed that despite enjoying significant personal success and financial growth, Bobi Wine continues to express dissatisfaction with the government.

“He has land in Busabala, with each acre going for Shs 800 million, and he owns more than 10 acres. His home in Magere sits on seven acres, with each acre valued at over Shs 600 million. He has yachts on the lake, he has raised children and educated them up to university, yet he says he isn’t happy with the government,” Kenzo said.

Bobi Wine, who leads the National Unity Platform, has consistently criticized Museveni’s administration, accusing it of mismanaging public resources and curtailing political freedoms. Over the years, he has positioned himself as one of the strongest challengers to Museveni’s decades-long rule.
