Media personality and deejay, Etania Mutoni, popularly known as Life of the Party, recently opened up about her personal journey on NTV’s Mwasuze Mutya. In a heartfelt conversation, she spoke about the woman who has had the biggest influence on her life — her mother.

“I am who I am today because of my mother,” Etania said, describing her as a no-nonsense woman who constantly encouraged discipline while teaching her to never let anyone take advantage of her.

She said her mother’s tough love and guidance have played a major role in shaping her into the strong, resilient woman she is today.

Etania also shared how her mother instilled in her a spirit of perseverance. She recalled her mother’s hard work at Owino Market, where even after the market faced fires, she would rebuild her business from scratch. “It’s from her example that I’ve learned the true meaning of never giving up,” she reflected.

But the lessons went beyond resilience. Etania explained that her mother also taught her never to dwell in self-pity. “At the end of the day, no one is going to come and save you — you have to stand up and help yourself,” she said. “My spirit of not giving up comes from her. Are you just going to stay there and cry? One who loses a loved one never stays at the graveyard forever.”
