Family: Eddy Yawe speaks out on Bobi Wine’s whereabouts, addresses fallout

Veteran musician Eddy Yawe has broken his silence to shed light on the situation surrounding his younger brother, politician and National Unity Platform leader, Bobi Wine, whose whereabouts remain a subject of public concern following the January 16 elections.

Speaking publicly, Eddy Yawe revealed that even close family members are unaware of where the opposition figure is currently residing. Bobi Wine has reportedly been in hiding since the polls, sparking anxiety among supporters both within Uganda and in the diaspora.

“We don’t know where our brother is, and as family we cannot even freely access his home,” Yawe said, describing the situation as deeply distressing.

Yawe’s remarks come a day after Bobi Wine addressed the Geneva Summit through an online platform, signaling that he remains engaged internationally despite uncertainty over his physical location. However, family members and close political allies insist they still do not know where he is living.

The singer further revealed that relatives face restrictions when attempting to visit.

“Even if we are to see him, we must ask for permission from people we don’t know or even meet. It’s a very sad and horrifying situation,” he added.

Yawe also dismissed claims that he had politically abandoned his brother, maintaining that he actively campaigned alongside him throughout the election period.

“I was with Bobi Wine on the campaign trail in every part of Uganda—those who dispute this should verify it on the internet,” he said.

He added that his greatest wish is to see his brother regain his freedom and live openly in his own country without restriction.

During the same interaction, Yawe was asked about a circulating video involving his niece, Shalom Namagembe, which had drawn social media attention. He declined to comment, saying he had no knowledge of the clip and therefore could not speak on it.

He reiterated that the family remains distanced from developments at Bobi Wine’s residence and continues to follow events from afar.
