Ugandan rapper Flex D’Paper has made it clear that he has no intention of changing his sound just to fit in with what is currently trending in the music industry.
While appearing on Galaxy TV Uganda, the rapper addressed comparisons that have been made between his music style and that of fast-rising star Kapeke.
Flex D’Paper said he respects and admires the work Kapeke is doing, but that doesn’t mean he feels the need to copy his style to win over fans.
For him, staying authentic as an artist is far more important than chasing popularity.

“I won’t change my style to sing like Kapeke just to be loved,” he said, stressing that musicians should remain true to themselves instead of reshaping their sound just to please the masses.
The rapper also pointed to Joshua Baraka as an example of an artist who has found success while doing music that stands out from what many Ugandans are traditionally used to.
According to Flex D’Paper, Baraka’s rise proves that urban artists can still thrive without abandoning their unique sound.
“Joshua Baraka showed us that you can still do urban music and still be successful,” he explained.
