  • Mikie Wine says talent is proven by audience reception, not opinions.
  • He accuses Bebe Cool of ignorance while defending his musical achievements.
  • Bebe Cool’s controversial annual music list continues to divide Uganda’s music industry.

The long-running war of words between Bebe Cool and the Kyagulanyi family shows no signs of cooling off anytime soon. The latest shorts have been fired by singer Michael Mukwaya, popularly known as Mikie Wine, the younger brother of Bobi Wine, who openly blasted Bebe Cool during his appearance on Galaxy TV’s Deep Talk with Roger Otis.

While speaking on the show, Roger Otis asked Mikie Wine to respond to Bebe Cool’s long-held assertion that Mikie Wine lacks musical talent. For years, the Gagamel boss has repeatedly attacked the Kyagulanyi family musically, claiming that only Eddy Yawe, Eddy Kenzo, and Dax Vibes are talented, while the rest are merely “gamblers” riding on the family name.

Mikie Wine dismissed Bebe Cool’s remarks as nothing more than a personal opinion—one he said he had no obligation to dispute. However, he quickly fired back, saying that just as Bebe Cool believes he has no talent, he equally believes Bebe Cool lacks knowledge and is simply ignorant.

“Talent is something you take to the court of the people,” Mikie Wine said. “When I step on stage, people ululate, praise me, and do whatever I ask. That is proof. But ignorance? That one doesn’t even need evidence.”

Mikie Wine went on to defend his musical journey, saying his achievements speak for themselves. He revealed that through music, he has managed to build a house, buy cars, support his family, and gain national recognition.

He added that whenever he performs, the crowd responds enthusiastically, something he says cannot be fabricated or gifted.

However, Mikie Wine took a sharp jab at Bebe Cool, claiming that unlike him, the Gagamel boss has allegedly received most of his wealth—including cars, houses, and money—as handouts rather than through proven musical impact.

According to Mikie Wine, this, in his view, is what truly defines “silliness.”

The feud is not an isolated one. Over the years, Bebe Cool’s annual music rankings, popularly known as the “Bebe Cool List,” has sparked outrage across the industry. Several artists including Pallaso, Eddy Kenzo, Ziza Bafana, King Saha, and even close associates like Dr. Jose Chameleone, have publicly or privately expressed dissatisfaction with the controversial list.

Despite the backlash, Bebe Cool has perfected the art of throwing verbal jabs without engaging in prolonged back-and-forths—often leaving his critics frustrated and unheard.

With Mikie Wine now entering the fray, it remains to be seen whether this latest exchange will force a response from the Gagamel camp or fade into yet another unresolved chapter of Uganda’s most heated music rivalries.
