- Banjo Man says Bobi Wine’s family has completely lost contact with him
- Bobi Wine claims he is being hunted by CDF Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba
- Conflicting statements emerge over whether the opposition leader has surrendered
Musician and entrepreneur Banjo Man, the elder brother of Bobi Wine, has emotionally revealed that the family has no knowledge of the opposition leader’s current whereabouts, weeks after the January 15 general election.

In an interview, Banjo Man said the situation has left the family distressed and helpless, noting that Bobi Wine has been forced into hiding amid what he describes as sustained threats from Uganda’s military establishment.
Bobi Wine, the leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP), has repeatedly used social media to detail alleged threats against his life and that of his family. In several posts and videos, he has accused the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, of personally leading a manhunt against him.
According to Bobi Wine, soldiers laid siege to his home, forcing him to escape under dangerous circumstances. Since then, his known phone lines have remained unreachable, deepening fears among relatives and supporters.

“We don’t know where our brother is. His phones are off. We only see him the same way other Ugandans do—through his social media posts,” Banjo Man said.
Banjo Man described the situation as “terrible” for the family, saying the uncertainty has taken a heavy emotional toll on them, especially given the continued online statements suggesting that security forces are still interested in his brother.
Confusion has been further fueled by contradictory statements from Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba. In a recent post, the CDF claimed that the hunt for Bobi Wine had been called off on the orders of President Yoweri Museveni, alleging that the opposition leader had opted to surrender himself.
However, there has been no public appearance or official confirmation from Bobi Wine or his legal team to support claims of a surrender, leaving many questions unanswered about his safety and current location.
