- Sheilah Gashumba calls Kampala a “jungle” for relationships
- Urges married men to openly show their status
- Says marriage issues are private, not society’s responsibility
Socialite and media personality Sheilah Gashumba has stirred conversation online after issuing a blunt and humorous warning to married women about the realities of modern relationships in Kampala.

During a live TikTok interaction with a friend, Sheilah didn’t hold back. She suggested that married men should go as far as visibly marking their status to avoid “confusion” in the city’s fast-paced dating scene. According to her, many men step out of their homes and completely drop the identity of being committed.
During this live broadcast, she joked that marriage certificates should almost be worn like badges of honor—or even tattoos—for clarity.
“You know, I feel like married men need to start walking around with their marriage certificates on the forehead. Literally. Because we are going to eat your men. Your men don’t want to say they are married.”

Sheilah went on to emphasize that Kampala’s social scene is not for the faint-hearted, describing it as a “jungle” where only strong relationships survive. Referencing the famous “no one can stop reggae” line, she implied that nothing will stop determined women from pursuing what they want.
“If you have a man and you bring him to Uganda and your relationship can still sustain, that’s the one for you… Uganda is a jungle.”
Despite the bold remarks, she also made it clear that she does not take responsibility for other people’s relationships. In her view, marriage is a private matter between two individuals, and any breakdown should not be blamed on outsiders.
Sheilah further clarified that she is currently single and free to live life on her own terms, distancing herself from accusations of interfering in other people’s unions. She also questioned why people feel the need to publicly monitor or announce others’ marital statuses.
Her comments have since sparked mixed reactions online, with some agreeing with her realism, while others criticized her stance as controversial.
