• Kasuku responded to JK Kazoora’s criticism of the Shs5 billion bloggers fund.
  • Kazoora questioned the creativity of modern content creators.
  • Kasuku urged him to embrace digital platforms instead of criticizing the new media generation.

A public spat has emerged between popular YouTuber and blogger Isaac Katende, widely known as Kasuku, and veteran media personality JK Kazoora over the Shs5 billion recently given to the Uganda Bloggers Association by President Museveni.

The disagreement began after Kazoora reportedly criticized the allocation of the funds, questioning the creativity and value of modern content creators. In his remarks, he argued that many of today’s bloggers, TikTokers, and online personalities do not match the creativity and innovation of media figures from earlier generations.

Kasuku, who is head of the bloggers’ group that received the funding, responded strongly, accusing Kazoora of constantly attacking him and fellow creators such as Frank Gashumba and Simon Ntambi.

“If he thinks content creation today is easy, he should start a YouTube channel himself and see if it gets traction,” Kasuku said while responding to the criticism.

Kasuku also advised Kazoora to respect his own legacy and learn from members of his generation who have adapted to the changing media landscape.

“People he worked with like Andrew Mwenda, Charles Onyango-Obbo, Robert Kabushenga and Canary Mugume have embraced new platforms like podcasts,” Kasuku noted.

According to Kasuku, rather than criticizing younger creators, Kazoora should use his experience to create his own digital platforms where he can share insights with the current generation.

Kasuku further dismissed claims that connections to political figures could reverse the funding decision, arguing that the money had already been allocated.

He concluded by telling Kazoora that the media industry has changed significantly, and adapting to the digital era is now essential for anyone hoping to remain relevant.
