Lydia Nabawanuka, better known to fans as Lydia Jazmine, has shared a touching and little-known story from her early days—one that highlights just how much the legendary duo Radio and Weasel shaped her life beyond music.

Radio & Weasel

The singer revealed that while she was still in campus, Radio and Weasel quietly stepped in and paid her tuition, ensuring she stayed in school at a time when her future could easily have taken a different turn.

Jazmine studied at Multitech Business School, where she later graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management. She credits that milestone largely to the duo, who had already taken her on as their backup artist and believed in her potential.

Looking back, Jazmine admits that without their support, her academic journey might have ended abruptly. “I don’t think I would have finished school if it weren’t for them,” she said, acknowledging the generosity of Radio and Weasel, as well as their then-manager Jeff Kiwa, who all played a role in keeping her on track.

Speaking in remembrance of the late Radio, who passed away a few years ago, Jazmine didn’t hold back her admiration. She described him as the greatest artist she has ever known—someone whose talent felt almost supernatural. To her, Radio was far more than a gifted musician; he was a phenomenal force whose creativity stood in a league of its own.

Her bond with the duo runs deep, especially because Radio was the brains behind her breakthrough single Masuuka. The song marked her official entry into the music scene and laid the foundation for her rise in Ugandan music.

Jazmine also used the moment to defend Weasel, calling out critics who downplay his talent or suggest that Radio would have thrived just fine without him. She strongly disagrees. “Radio wouldn’t be who he was without Weasel,” she said. “They complemented each other perfectly. Both of them were incredibly talented. I was honestly scared of them every time we were in the studio.”
