- Maro felt betrayed after discovering Patrick Salvado had a show scheduled around the same time as his concert
- He later realized Salvado’s show was planned earlier and delayed by sponsor confirmations
- The two discussed the issue, cleared the misunderstanding, and remain friends today
R&B singer Maro has finally opened up about the misunderstanding that once strained his relationship with veteran comedian Patrick Salvado, a fallout that saw him publicly label the comedian a “traitor” a few years ago.

Speaking during an appearance on Galaxy TV’s Deep Talk, Maro explained that Salvado has been a close friend for many years, making the situation even more painful at the time. According to the singer, the tension started after he privately informed Salvado about plans for his upcoming concert, including preparations that were already underway.
Maro says he was shocked when he later spotted a much bigger billboard advertising Patrick Salvado’s comedy show, scheduled around the same time. The discovery left him feeling blindsided and hurt, believing his trust had been abused.
“I had already told him about my concert and the preparations I had put in place. Seeing that billboard made me feel like I had been stabbed in the back,” Maro said during the interview.

However, after returning home and reflecting on the situation, the singer admitted that his reaction may have been unfair. He later learned that Salvado’s show was planned to coincide with the comedian’s birthday and that it had been in the works for some time. Delays from corporate sponsors had slowed down confirmations, making the timelines appear suspicious.
Maro also used the opportunity to highlight the deep history between them, noting that Salvado was among the pioneers of the Comedy Store, Uganda’s flagship comedy platform founded by Alex Muhangi. He added that whenever Salvado is in the country and informs Muhangi of his availability, he is almost always placed on the lineup — a testament to their long-standing professional respect.
The singer confirmed that the two later sat down, addressed the misunderstanding, and cleared the air.
Maro emphasized that there is no bad blood between them today and that their friendship has since returned to normal.
