Masaka City MP-elect Justine Nameere pledges Shs5m monthly to support single mothers

Hon. Justine Nameere has made a bold and heartfelt pledge as she prepares to take her seat in Parliament as the newly elected Woman Member of Parliament for Masaka City. She secured the position after defeating National Unity Platform’s Rose Nalubowa in the recently concluded elections.

Before stepping into elective politics, Nameere built a strong public profile through television. She is best known for hosting popular shows such as Life Stories, Life and People, Mini Buzz, and Omunyo ku Makya on NTV Uganda, as well as programs on Bukedde TV. Through these platforms, she told stories that reflected everyday struggles, resilience, and real-life experiences—work that earned her a loyal and engaged audience across the country.

Now, fresh from her electoral victory, Nameere has announced that she will dedicate Shs5 million from her monthly parliamentary salary to support single mothers. The money will be shared among five women, each receiving Shs1 million. She clarified that the beneficiaries will be selected at random and will not be limited to Masaka City alone.

According to Nameere, the initiative will kick off immediately after she is sworn into Parliament and will continue throughout her time in office. She describes it as a way of giving back to the communities and individuals who stood by her long before politics came into the picture.

“Single mothers are among the people who have supported me throughout my journey,” Nameere said. “I want this money to help them financially, even in a small way, so they can regain stability and improve their lives.”

With this pledge, the incoming legislator is signaling that her time in Parliament will be closely tied to grassroots impact—starting with those she believes need it most.
