Miles Rwamiti isn’t done yet… why he’s keeping his eyes on Nakawa come 2031

Miles Rwamiti Apuuli’s political journey has taken more twists and turns than many expected, but if there’s one thing he’s made clear, it’s that he’s not backing off the people of Nakawa anytime soon.

After years of building a name in Uganda’s entertainment industry, Rwamiti crossed into politics with the confidence of someone determined to represent the “common man” like all politicians say. His path hasn’t been smooth as we’ve seen him shift from FDC, NRM, and later to the newly emerged Common Man’s Party.

His electoral attempts are framed as a personal mission to find the right platform to serve ordinary Ugandans, but these have been quite eventful. In 2021, he contested for Hoima East on the FDC ticket and lost. Later this year, he tried again in Nakawa West under The Common Man’s Party, where he finished third losing to Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi of The National Unity Platform.

Despite the numbers not being in his favour, he hasn’t shielded away from reflecting on his experience. In a recent one-on-one interview with Spark TV, Rwamiti struck a tone that was both grateful and resolute.

He thanked the voters who believed in him, even when the results didn’t go his way. More importantly, he made it clear that Nakawa is home, as he has lived his entire life among these people and has no intention of leaving. Instead, he’s already looking ahead, promising to return to the ballot in 2031.

“I received about 600 votes, and I’m grateful for each of them. I congratulate Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi on his win, but I ask him to work for the people. In case he needs help, we can always join hands and serve the people of Nakawa together.” – Miles Rwamiti
