Ugandan gospel artist Mungu Feni has won the Best Gospel Artist Content Creator of the Year award at the 2026 Africa Content Creators Awards (ACCA), held on July 16 in Kigali, Rwanda.

Born Bernard Feni, the Arua-based singer emerged victorious in a highly competitive category that featured creators and musicians from across Africa. He beat Nigeria’s Gaise Baba, Rwanda’s Chryso Ndasingwa and Meddy, as well as Kenya’s Bella Kombo.

The award adds to a growing list of achievements for Feni, whose music career has expanded beyond Uganda through digital platforms and online audiences.

The ACCA ceremony brought together content creators, artists, industry professionals and fans from across the continent to celebrate digital storytelling and creativity. Organizers described the awards as a platform that recognizes talent shaping Africa’s digital space through audience engagement and industry recognition.

Receiving the award, Feni thanked his supporters and dedicated the recognition to everyone who has followed his music journey.

“I don’t take this for granted. To every fan who voted, streamed and shared my music from Uganda and across Africa, this is yours,” Feni said.

“I’m just a vessel. All the glory goes to God. Thank you for believing in a boy from West Nile when I had no stage, no concert, just songs and faith. We are going to do more for God and for the people.”

The win highlights the growing influence of digital platforms in helping artists from outside traditional entertainment centres such as Lagos, Nairobi and Johannesburg reach wider audiences.

Although he is yet to stage a major public concert, Feni has built a growing international following through platforms including Spotify, YouTube, Audiomack, Boomplay, SoundCloud and Shazam. His music has accumulated more than three million streams, while his songs continue receiving airplay on gospel and entertainment channels across Africa.

His music has featured on platforms such as Trace Gospel, Trace Mziki, Trace Naija, TBN Africa and Pearl Magic, expanding his visibility among gospel audiences on the continent.

The ACCA award follows other recent recognitions for the singer. Earlier in 2026, Feni was named Artist of the Year at the Personalities Awards 2026 in Ghana, organized by Feleb Concepts Multimedia. He also received the Best New Star Gospel Artist award at the Shining Stars Africa Awards in 2025/2026.

Outside music, Feni is the founder of Euro Gold and leads the Mungu Feni Foundation, a community initiative based in West Nile. The foundation focuses on youth empowerment and supporting vulnerable communities.

Speaking after the win, Feni said the recognition motivates him to continue using music as a tool for inspiration and positive change.

“This award tells me people are listening, and more importantly, they are being touched. My prayer is that we use these platforms to inspire, to heal and to point people back to hope,” he said.
