• Geoffrey Lutaaya disputed the Kakuuto County results, accusing the NRM and Electoral Commission of announcing altered figures.
  • NRM’s Ismail Lubega Kaka was declared winner with 11,344 votes against Lutaaya’s 10,229.
  • With Lutaaya, Dr. Hilderman, and Nina Roz losing, Uganda’s 12th Parliament will have no music industry representation.

Geoffrey Lutaaya has claimed that his victory in Kakuuto County was taken away by the NRM candidate.

Lutaaya, who won the seat in 2021, was captured in a video being forcibly removed from the tally centre after he angrily challenged the Electoral Commission over what he described as altered results.

He accused the EC of announcing figures that did not match those on the declaration of results (DR) forms, prompting police to step in to restore order.

In the final tally, NRM’s Ismail Lubega Kaka was declared the winner with 11,344 votes, while Lutaaya received 10,229 votes.

Speaking after the incident, an emotional Lutaaya said, “I left after the so-called god of Uganda, Kasolo — Minister Haruna Kasolo — took away my victory. I’m hurt, and I won’t hide it. I campaigned for a long time and gave it my all. I thank everyone who has walked this journey with me because, in my heart, you gave me the victory.”

As things stand, the 12th Parliament will have no representation from the music industry. Lutaaya and Dr. Hilderman both lost their seats to NRM candidates, while Nina Roz, who was contesting for the first time, also suffered defeat in Sembabule at the hands of the ruling party.
