- Kenzo’s political involvement has sparked debate as Uganda heads to polls on January 15, 2026.
President Yoweri Museveni has applauded musician Eddy Kenzo for his role in mobilising and entertaining supporters during the ongoing NRM campaign activities.

Speaking at a campaign rally held this week in Kampala, President Museveni commended the Big Talent boss for using his music to uplift people during political engagements, noting that entertainment is a valuable service to society.
“Eddy Kenzo does not bring food, clothes or other services. His contribution is entertainment, and that is good. When people are sad and he performs, they become happy,” Museveni said.
The President went on to explain that national development requires citizens to focus on what they do best and contribute in their own ways. He cited his personal involvement in farming as an example.

“For me, I grow bananas and rear cows to produce milk and beef. That is my contribution. Every Ugandan should specialise in what they know how to do best,” he added.
Eddy Kenzo has been a visible figure on the campaign trail as President Museveni seeks another term in office. The singer has performed at several rallies across the country, emerging as one of the most prominent artistic faces of the campaign.
Although other musicians, including Dr. Jose Chameleone and Bebe Cool, have also participated in NRM-related activities, Kenzo’s presence has stood out, earning him direct public praise from the President.
Kenzo’s political involvement has, however, attracted mixed reactions within the music industry, with some colleagues openly criticising his stance. Notably, Bebe Cool—who has also faced similar criticism—was himself praised by Museveni in November during the Unstoppable Movement event held in Rwakitura.
As Ugandans head to the polls next week on January 15, 2026, attention remains on whether the strong involvement of musicians like Eddie Kenzo will have a significant impact on Museveni’s bid to retain power.
