Former singer Ivan Kawuma, popularly known as Qute Kaye, has appealed to fellow entertainers Geosteady and Producer Didi to join him in the fight against drug addiction.

Speaking after his return to Uganda from the UK, Kaye revealed that he had been pursuing a nine-month course in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while also working and living with his family. The Ginkese singer added that he is now a UK citizen and that his foundation, Another Chance, has helped countless people overcome addiction.

When asked why the media rarely covers these success stories, Kaye explained that many recovering addicts prefer privacy to avoid re-traumatization.

“As someone who once battled addiction, I know how harmful public exposure can be to someone still healing,” he said. “We have helped many people, but we don’t publicize it because recovery is a delicate journey.”

Kaye added that he feels a strong calling to help others facing the same struggles he overcame eight years ago. He urged Geosteady and Didi—both of whom have publicly spoken about overcoming similar challenges—to use their experiences to serve others.

Citing the Biblical story of Jonah, Kaye said they shouldn’t wait for a divine command to act.

“What happened to us wasn’t by mistake—it was so we could serve a purpose,” he noted.

Kaye emphasized that overcoming addiction begins with self-acceptance and recognizing one’s higher purpose, adding that, for him, his strength comes from Jesus.
