As disputes over royalties and ownership continue to dominate Uganda’s music industry, Western Uganda music star Ray G has shared why he has never found himself at the center of such disagreements.

The Murebe singer explained that every collaboration begins with proper discussions between his management team and that of the other artist. Before recording starts, both sides agree on how the project will be funded, distributed, and how any income generated from the song will be shared.

“Before we even record a song, both teams sit down and agree on funding, distribution, and revenue sharing. Once we agree, there is no reason for conflict later,” Ray G said.

According to the singer, he is comfortable with whatever arrangement is reached. Whether the proceeds are shared equally, one artist takes a bigger percentage, or the collaborating artist owns the project entirely, he says he is always satisfied with what was agreed upon.

Ray G added that whenever another musician invites him onto a song, he considers that artist the rightful owner of the project, with his role simply being to contribute creatively.

“If another artist calls me for a collaboration, I consider the project to be theirs. I’m only there to add value, and I’m satisfied with whatever we agree on,” he said.

The singer further noted that even if the other party later changes their position after the song is released, he chooses not to dwell on disputes, preferring to protect his relationships and reputation in the industry.

To illustrate his point, Ray G revealed that his hit song Forever, which became a nationwide success after featuring Megatone, belongs entirely to Megatone despite its popularity.

Meanwhile, the Western Uganda music star is preparing for his highly anticipated concert scheduled for August 7 at Kololo Independence Grounds.
