  • The singer says despite leaving the band, she still holds deep respect and gratitude for the couple.

Ugandan singer Sasha Brighton has opened up about her childhood ambitions, revealing that long before she became a musician, she dreamed of becoming a television presenter.

During an interview with Sanyuka TV, the singer shared that she always imagined herself entertaining audiences on television through dancing, presenting music and engaging viewers with her unique personality.

However, what fascinated her most about television presenting was the style and confidence presenters displayed on screen.

“I always wanted to be on TV, dancing, presenting music and entertaining people. I admired the way presenters spoke with so much style,” Sasha Brighton said.

In a surprising revelation, the singer explained that part of her fascination with television came from watching presenters speak in a way that seemed mysterious and captivating to viewers.

“Sometimes they spoke in a way that made you wonder what exactly they were saying, but the style kept you watching. I wanted to be that person on TV,” she added.

Despite her dream, Sasha Brighton said her academic journey could not allow her to pursue a media career. She revealed that she stopped studying in Senior Five and only completed her first term due to financial circumstances that prevented her from continuing school.

Nevertheless, the singer credits her breakthrough in music to veteran musicians Geoffrey Lutaaya and wife, Irene Namatovu, who gave her an opportunity in their band Da Nu Eagles.

Although she initially failed during auditions for the group, the judges were later asked to pick one performer who had impressed them despite not qualifying. Namatovu selected Sasha Brighton, giving her the chance that eventually launched her career.

While she later left the band due to undisclosed challenges, the singer maintains deep respect and gratitude toward the couple.

She says their support laid the foundation for the successful music career she enjoys today.
