Musician Shakira Shakiraa has cautioned event promoters against booking her during the holy month of Ramadan, saying she will not perform throughout the fasting period.

Speaking to a reporter, the Lokomoti singer made it clear that she had already communicated her decision before the start of Ramadan.

“I am used to wearing skimpy outfits and performing on stage. I cannot spend the whole day fasting and doing chores, then go and perform at night. That is not possible for me,” she added.
The singer also opened up about her first day of fasting, revealing that she unintentionally broke her fast after forgetting it was Ramadan.
According to Shakira, after waking up for the pre-dawn meal, she later went back to the fridge out of habit and ate yogurt before realizing it was a fasting day. She, however, noted that the days that followed have gone smoothly and she plans to make up for the missed fast.
Shakira added that Islamic teachings permit one to make up a fast in certain circumstances.
Known for her daring fashion choices and electrifying stage presence, Shakira Shakiraa has often drawn criticism from some music observers over her performance style. Despite the controversy, she remains firm in balancing her faith and career — choosing devotion over the stage during Ramadan.
