• Winnie Wa Mummy says her music will survive without TikTok.
  • She acknowledges the platform amplified her songs but did not create her talent.
  • The singer is determined to shake off the “TikTok artist” label and grow beyond social media.

Rising Ugandan singer Winnie Wa Mummy has confidently stated that her music career will survive even without TikTok, the platform many believe propelled her to fame.

In a statement shared this morning, the singer said that while TikTok has played a big role in amplifying her songs, it is not the foundation of her musical journey.

“If TikTok vanishes today, my music will keep moving. Yes, it has helped to amplify my music, but musicians have always existed without it,” she said.

Winnie Wa Mummy rose to prominence through TikTok, where her catchy songs and engaging content quickly attracted a massive following. The platform became a key driver in promoting her releases, turning some of her tracks into viral hits.

Despite her growth and collaborations — including working with established singer King Saha — she continues to face criticism from some critics who label her a “TikTok singer.”

However, Winnie believes her talent goes beyond social media trends. She maintains that her fan base is strong enough to sustain her music even if the app, which currently constitutes a large percentage of her audience, were to disappear.

The singer says her focus remains on producing good music and building a brand that can stand independently of any single platform.

As debates about the future of TikTok continue globally, Winnie wa Mummy appears determined to prove that her music career is bigger than the app that introduced her to the spotlight.
