TAKEAWAYS

  • Zari Hassan wants the Kafeero DNA tests to be repeated by trusted laboratories.
  • She says the process should be transparent and open to the public.
  • She cited a South African case involving alleged DNA test tampering to support her call.

Socialite Zari Hassan has weighed in on the ongoing controversy surrounding the DNA tests conducted on individuals claiming to be children of the late Kadongo Kamu legend Paul Job Kafeero, calling for the tests to be repeated.

Her remarks come after the shocking revelation that only four of the 25 individuals who underwent DNA testing were confirmed to be the singer’s biological children, a result that sparked widespread debate on social media.

“These DNA tests should be redone, and the entire process should be made public so that people can have confidence in the results.”

According to Zari, the outcome left many Ugandans puzzled, especially because some of the individuals who were ruled out were widely believed to bear a striking resemblance to Kafeero.

To support her argument, Zari shared what she described as a true story involving a close friend in South Africa. She said the man initially suspected his wife of infidelity, but the first DNA test confirmed he was the father. Still unconvinced, he sought a second test after the birth of another child, which allegedly produced different results.

“The hospital later discovered that the first DNA test had been tampered with. The nurse involved was dismissed, and my friend successfully sued the hospital for R3.2 million.”

Zari argued that the incident demonstrates why DNA testing should always be transparent and handled by trusted institutions. While she did not present evidence that the Kafeero tests were compromised, she maintained that repeating them would help eliminate doubts and restore public confidence in the findings.
