Ugandan singer-turned-politician Nina Roz has come out swinging after her recent bid for the Ssembabule Woman MP seat ended in defeat. She contested under the National Unity Platform (NUP) and boldly insists her loss was not a fair one.

According to Nina Roz, the election was affiliated with violence, intimidation, and outright vote rigging. She claims many of her supporters were blocked from casting her ballots, while others were injured in the chaos that unfolded at polling stations. “People voted for me in overwhelming numbers, but those votes were never fully counted.” she argues.

Her frustration has now turned into a direct appeal to the Electoral Commission Chairperson, Justice Simon Byabakama. She sends out a cry for help to him to order a fresh election in Ssembabule, saying the integrity of the process was greatly compromised and democracy denied.

While official results placed her behind Hon. Florence Nambazira of the NRM and other contenders, Nina Roz maintains that her victory was “stolen.”

To her, the fight is no longer just about winning a seat as she believes she’s the rightfully elected Woman MP of Ssembabule and would like to ensure that her people claim that win freely.
