  • Lil Pazo says the Bebe Cool–Eddy Kenzo beef was driven by money and competition for influence at NRM rallies.

  • Despite public exchanges, Lil Pazo insists the rivalry was work-related, not personal.

Musician Lil Pazo has finally shed light on the long-rumoured fallout between Bebe Cool and Eddy Kenzo that played out during the National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential campaigns.

Bebe Cool and Eddy Kenzo were among the top musicians headlining President Yoweri Museveni’s rallies as he cruised to a historic ninth term in office. However, behind the scenes, tensions were reportedly high, with the two superstars frequently trading barbs in the media.

Speaking about the issue, Lil Pazo—who also performed during the campaigns—revealed that the root of the conflict was largely financial and tied to influence at the rallies. According to the Genda Ogule Motoka singer, the situation was similar to rivalry in a polygamous marriage.

“This thing was like two women married to the same man. It’s about who is sweeter than the other,” Lil Pazo said.

He explained that both Bebe Cool and Eddy Kenzo command massive influence wherever they go, making clashes almost inevitable. However, Lil Pazzo noted that Bebe Cool, who has supported President Museveni for over two decades, felt threatened by Kenzo’s growing prominence during the campaigns.

According to Lil Pazo, Bebe Cool did not want Eddy Kenzo to take away his spotlight, while Kenzo, on the other hand, felt he was the new force and deserved more space at the rallies.

Lil Pazo added that while material things can be taken away, star power cannot.

“You can take away everything from Bebe Cool, but you can’t take away his shine. The same applies to Eddy Kenzo,” he said.

Despite the public exchanges, Lil Pazo believes the two musicians never had a deep personal problem. He said their disagreements were mostly work-related and fueled by competition for relevance and recognition.

Lil Pazo admitted that he personally stayed out of the clash, describing it as a fight for “rich people” and senior figures in the industry.

He also appeared to sympathize more with Bebe Cool, arguing that the veteran musician had seen it all and was justified in standing his ground. According to Lil Pazo, Bebe Cool could access anything at the rallies and there was nothing exclusive that Eddy Kenzo could get that Bebe Cool could not.

In the end, Lil Pazo concluded that such conflicts are common in professional spaces, especially where influence, money, and legacy are involved.

“These are work battles. This is a war for the generals,” he said.
